HBO’s CEO said in a recent interview that he is not concerned about password sharing for the HBO GO app. In fact he thinks that long term it will help his business…the full inerview is here. ABC on the other hand is going to delay online content in an effort to get more people to watch via TV versus the internet. The result was a 300% increase in illegal downloads of ABC which ABC gets no revenue from and no increase in TV viewership. The infographic is here. This another example of how restricting content does not increase revenue for content providers.
