One of the biggest complaints I receive from my customers is that their computer is “running slow”. There are some basic checks that can be run to see where the problem lies.
- Close all open applications.
- Open the task manager and look at the performance tab, if you’re using more than 50% of your page file allocation you will most likely find a performance increase by adding memory.
- In the task manager look at the process tab if you have more than 50 or 60 processes on a desktop or 70 on a notebook you probably have programs running in the background that you are not using. You can turn these off by using the msconfig utility or by deleting them out of the Windows startup folder.
If you need your computer to run “lean and mean” contact the professionals at CHESS and sign up for our SOCS program.
